He is in shoulder-high water as he struggles to reach the beach ahead of him. He sees his captain step on a land mine as he reaches the sandy beaches, just yards in front of him. The sight of his captain flying straight up in the air puts a fear in him he has never experienced. He thinks, <em>God, help me. I don't want to die here!</em></p><p><br></p><p><br></p>
