In addition to authoring over 100 books and founding the largest Buddhist monastery in Europe, his teachings are responsible for bringing mindfulness to the West. He lives in Hue in Central Vietnam. <p/>Alan Weisman is the author of five books, including The World Without Us, an international bestseller translated into more than thirty languages, and Gaviotas: A Village to Reinvent the World. His reports from around the world have appeared in <i>Harper's</i>, <i>The New York Times Magazine</i>, <i>The Atlantic Monthly</i>, <i>The Los Angeles Times Magazine</i>, <i>Orion</i>, <i>Wilson Quarterly</i>, <i>Mother Jones</i>, <i>Discover</i>; and on National Public Radio and in <i>Best American Science Writing</i>.
