Its is a story of a squirrel, Somy, and how she become a Mum. After a birthday party she realises she is growing older and needs to decide if she wants to become a Mum. She tries to meet someone and then decides to go for sperm donation.

Review Quotes

Lovely book with beautiful illustrations making it really easy to explain sperm donation to children through a simple story. Would recommend definitely. EMP

Our daughter loves this book. It's a wonderful way to share our story with her as she grows. SS

Adorable drawings will delight your child as this story introduces the complicated concept of in vitro fertilization, and a mother's choice to conceive and raise a child on her own. For very young children, you might choose to skip over some of the more complex terms and just read this book to share a mom's joy of having a child. In the story, the mother tries to find the perfect husband, and the illustrations made me laugh out loud as each one wasn't quite the right match. (I don't want to spoil it, so I won't say much more.) I would think that many new moms don't even know books like this exist, and this book will reassure them that there are simple ways to explain complicated topics. Highly recommend! TT

This is a delightful story about a choice to be a single mum, one of the many ways we can become a family. Friends who support this choice prove that genetic connection is not essential to realize our dream of becoming a parent. Regardless of the path we take, it is born of the wish to love and nature a child.

Sandra K Dill CEO, Access Australia www.access.org.au, Chair, iCSipatientcommunitywww.icsicommunity.org

Somy, like many women in the world, had to make a decision between creating an unconventional family or not fulfilling her natural mothering instincts. When a woman wishes "to be a mother" she is choosing the most complicated career. One in which you stop praying for your dreams, and instead pray for a longer life to be able to see your child´s dreams come true.

Sandra de la Garza, founder www.ami-ac.com, Author of "Cuando tarda la Cigüeña"(When the Stork is Delayed)

I am a single mother by choice, with two daughters; Alba, was born thanks to assisted reproduction treatment with a sperm donor and, Nabila Moon, was the result of an international adoption. Carmen recounts in her children´s stories these different forms of conception, closer to the social reality of families in the 21st century. Thanks Carmen, for contributing to this scarce "other children´s literature."

Rosa Maestro, founder www.masola.org, Author of "Cloe quiere ser Mama", (Cloe wants to be a Mum)
