Louis Lewandowski was a pioneer of modern Jewish liturgical music, introducing a Romantic style influenced by Mendelssohn. In 1879, his 18 Liturgical Psalms eschewed tradition in Jewish synagogue services and led to the creation of a new liturgy. DG presents the first complete recording of this masterwork with the generous support of the Hungarian Government and Hungarian Radio Art Groups. Musicologist and conductor Andor Izs k is joined by the Hungarian Radio Choir for this world premiere. <br/>
