Prior to this, he was an associate professor at the Copenhagen Business School, Denmark, a Fulbright Scholar University of California, Berkeley and associate professor at the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. He has published several academic articles in leading international and national journals which have been influential. His previous book Evolution of Markets and Institutions: A Study of an Emerging Economy was published by Routledge in 2006. His collection of poems A Garden with a Broken Face was published by Penguin in 2015. His book of poems I Forgot to Fly Kites was published by Notion Press. He was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award for contribution to the field of management in November 2017 by Venus International Foundation, Chennai.
