She received her bachelor's degree in journalism, as well as earned an English minor from the University of Memphis. The author resides in Tennessee with her husband and children.Manes resides in Memphis, Tennessee with her dog, Bear. The illustrator has a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree and a Master's of Information Visualization. She works full-time as a data analyst for ALSAC/St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Additionally, Manes takes her artistic skillset to another level as the owner and operator of ANP Cakes.
