In an attempt to promote his new movie and avoid bad press from recent indiscretions, a movie actor agrees to participate in a contest in which one lucky girl will receive a date with him. When a grocery checkout girl from West Virginia wins the contest, the two go on their date, but the actor continues to woo the girl much to the dismay of her life-long best friend who also has romantic feelings for her.
